Going Greener

We are all encouraged to think and be greener to preserve our planet.

The Parchmore Centre has a solar powered hot water system which was officially opened by the Mayor of Croydon, Councillor Maggie Mansell and the Minister for Energy and local MP, Malcolm Wicks.

The system, powered by 5m² of panels on the roof provides 2000Kw hours of energy - about half of the hot water used by centre. The installation of the system has not only provided for considerable savings in energy costs but also symbolises the Centre’s commitment to energy efficiency. The system was funded by a 100% grant through a Clear Skies Grant from the Community Renewables Initiative and with the assistance of the REAL (Renewable Energy Action for London).

We also recycle paper, cardboard, refill and recycle ink cartridges and other commodities and, look in our purchases to use recycled and fairly traded goods.

Our new system saves money and helps protect the environment
